The objective of the Atlantic Charities Initiative (ACI) is to support and strengthen the charitable sector in Atlantic Canada and is managed by David Oyler on a volunteer basis. It operates on the belief that greater community impact is a corollary of independent regulatory oversight which ensures:
- appropriate stewardship of charitable resources,
- an even playing field for all registered charities,
- a high level of trust among sector supporters and stakeholders
ACI will build greater awareness among charities of Canada Revenue Agency policy through free information sessions titled CHARITY FUNDAMENTALS, promote accountability and transparency, and participate in other sector stakeholder projects.
To date, CHARITY FUNDAMENTALS been offered in Bridgetown, Antigonish, Liverpool, Halifax, Moncton, Charlottetown, New Glasgow, and to the Association of Fundraising Professionals - NS Chapter, and been attended by over 120 organizations.
